Why Catholic?

Because in a world of conflicting truths, we found Truth.  Because Jesus offered himself, body, blood, soul, and divinity, freely as a gift.  Because Jesus offers to carry our cross with us, to walk with us in our hardships.  Because the Church was established over 2000 years ago and we can trace our history back to its beginning.  Because the Church is one of the largest charitable organizations in the world.  Because God created the entire world and calls every human being into communion with Himself.  Because faith tells us Christ is present, even when our human senses fail. Because God loves us. Because God forgives us.  Because God calls us. Because God loves you.

Many of the tenets of our faith consist of mysteries that will not be fully known before we reach Heaven.   Questions and doubt, when answers are sought, can deepen our faith.  As we nourish our faith, the mystery may be better understood. ****  [you will find me when you seek me with your whole heart]

To summarize our faith simply: God creates (every living thing).  Sin enters (the world and we have the free will to choose it).  Jesus saves (us by taking our sin upon his own cross and willingly dying so that we might have life everlasting in Heaven).  We respond.

In the words of his Holiness, Pope Leo XIV in his first public address:

God loves us, God loves you all, and evil will not prevail! All of us are in God’s hands. So, let us move forward, without fear, together, hand in hand with God and with one another other! We are followers of Christ. Christ goes before us. The world needs his light. Humanity needs him as the bridge that can lead us to God and his love. Help us, one and all, to build bridges through dialogue and encounter, joining together as one people, always at peace.
